“I have a speech impediment. I stutter. In grade school I was exceedingly shy and quiet. I was nervous that if I spoke out loud in class, I would be teased. My parents thought it might help me to take a drama class. My freshman year, I took an intensive speech clinic at the University of Utah. I have been involved in several musical plays, speech competitions, dance concerts and even cheering. I am no longer afraid to speak up. I want to become a speech therapist. I want to work with children... to be an individual who makes a difference... ”
