“My interest in medicine sparked when I was a young girl traveling by my mother’s side from Española to the rural village of Truchas, to help my ailing grandparents’ with their declining health needs. My grandfather was suffering from stomach cancer, while my family was also caring for my grandmother whom had Alzheimer’s couple by a paralyzing stroke. I began to understand the terminology and complexity of these diseases. Since then, the desire to fi nd cures and ease suffering has been a growing dream as I have strived to move forward through my studies and service ”
